Jeffares Launches “Dirty Jobs” Tour
— Highlights Need for Technical Education and Affordable College Tuition —
VALDOSTA, GA – Former State Senator and candidate for Lt. Governor Rick Jeffares will launch his statewide “Dirty Jobs” tour with a stop at Withlacoochee Treatment Plant in Valdosta on Monday, January 29th, at 1:30 pm.
The “Dirty Jobs” tour will bring Rick to businesses small and large across Georgia that are hungry for workers with a solid technical education and a work ethic to build careers that do not require a university degree.
“A university education is a great thing and something I worked hard to pay for myself, but not every kid is going to go to college and there are many fantastic careers in our state that are best pursued via a technical education,” Rick said.
Jeffares will also highlight his plans for a college tuition freeze for incoming freshmen to make planning for a four-year degree easier for parents.
“Half of our HOPE students lose their scholarships in their first two-years and tuition costs are skyrocketing,” Rick said. “Freezing each student’s tuition at the beginning of their university education will help people budget for their education.”
“Georgia is growing, it’s open for business. We need doctors and lawyers and engineers,” Rick said. “We also need costume designers and special effects artists for our film industry, technicians to process wastewater, plumbers and electricians. There are an endless variety of jobs need filling in our communities which build vocations and a quality of life for Georgia families.”
Jeffares is no stranger to hard work. He ran his family farm and helped his mother raise his brothers after his father passed away when he was 13. He put himself through college, went into the water treatment field, started a successful business and became a County Commissioner and City Manager.
The first stop on Rick’s tour will be at the Withlacoochee Treatment Plant in Valdosta on Monday, January 29th, at 1:30 pm. The address is 3108 Wetherington Ln, Valdosta, GA 31601. It is open to the press.
